FAQ

Online Shop

Find information on gift wrapping, samples, orders and shipping. Frequent enquiries relating to Fashion Formula accounts, and stockist, press and careers questions.

What are your shipping options and rates?

Fashion Formula ships to the UK, Europe and the Rest of the World. Shipping
rates are calculated by your order quantity, the destination of the
shipment, the type of product you order and the method you choose to
ship by.

Currently we use the following services :
Royal Mail (1st & 2nd class signed for), APC Courier (tracked & signed), UPS, DHL and TNT.

Please note that while we try our best to ensure that your
deliveries are shipped on time, once we have shipped the goods, the
shipment is out of our control. Shipping companies may be changed for an
alternate provider with an identical service if the current service is
not possible / unavailable.

If you have chosen a tracked service, we will provide you with the
tracking details for you to track the shipment directly with the courier
company.

For Northern Ireland, if UPS or TNT are selected, the carrier service
will be Royal Mail Special Delivery with tracking and signature. For
international shipments, please allow some additional time for customs
clearance in your chosen country. In Europe, there is no waiting time
for customs clearance.

If you are local to the factory (London NW10) there is also the option to collect your order in person.

What is your return and exchange policy?

As this community means so much to us and we want you to have unique
designs for your customised purposes, this makes it not possible for us
to re-use or resell material that you have returned to us. Therefore we
cannot accept returns on any printed products. Please see our terms and
conditions for information on this.

If there is a fault or a mistake on your order, our team is more than
happy to help you resolve it and replace or refund your order
accordingly. If you have any issues, please email our team
at orders@fashion-formula.com and they will do all they can to help you

How do I place a repeat order?

You can place a repeat order via your account. Your account stores all
of your order history and makes it quick and easy to re-order any of
your designs at the click of a button, no need to re-upload. Log in to your account here.

What images can I print with Fashion Formula?

At Fashion Formula, we respect the rights of the artists and request you do the same when printing and uploading designs.

We will only print images and designs that you own the rights to or
have permission to use. Uploading images that infringe on other intellectual property rights, such as Copyright, Trademarks and design rights are a violation of our terms of service.

Please find some simple instructions regarding the types of images you can use.

If you created the images yourself

Computer- created designs or images using CAD software – please follow our design tips

Hand- Drawn Illustrations – scan at the best possible resolution (
2400 DPI +) and ideally redraw/ retouch in CAD software to remove any
imperfections / artefacts

Photographs – content must adhere to our Terms of Use

If you created part of the images

Creating a design by copying parts or referencing it into your own
work even if you redraw it still violates the Intellectual property
rights of the owner. If you wish to incorporate any other work in your
designs, please ensure you have the correct permissions and licences.

Often people believe that changing someone’s design, even a little
bit, makes it yours. This is inaccurate and violates the IP Rights of
the owner. The design will remain under the ownership of the original
designer and not yours.

Using images in the public domain

Nowadays you don't have to be a designer to be able to use an image for a project but you need to be mindful of the copyrights.

Images on the internet are not always useable. Please make sure you
have the correct permissions or licences to utilize someone else’s
design or photograph.

Images found in the public domain or possessing expired copyrights
can be used for non- commercial, personal usage unless explicitly noted
otherwise. These images cannot be sold or used commercially.

Using images found in the Fashion Formula shop

You can use these prints as often as you like, and for any product or
use you like. The designs are offered on a unrestricted licence with
unlimited uses on the products provided. However it is illegal to copy
the digital format of the files and pass them off as your own. The
copyright of the designs printed remains with the designer.

How do I reset my password?

You can reset your password by clicking the 'reset password' button on the login page. You will need to provide the email address you signed up to your account with so that a link to reset your password can be sent
to you. If you have not received the reset password email, please check
your Junk Mail before getting in touch.

Why are some fabrics marked as clearance?

We regularly review and improve our fabric range to provide the best possible variety and quality. Fabrics marked as clearance are usually stock that we are discontinuing so we are selling what's left at a discounted price.

My fabric has been discontinued, can I still order it?

Fabrics are sometimes discontinued because our supplier no longer produces it so we can no longer re-order the item. If a fabric is discontinued due to low demand, we may be able to re-order if you require a high quantity. Check with our team for more information.

What if the fabric is out of stock?

We aim to keep a good supply of each of our fabric bases but sometimes things happen out of our control. If a fabric is showing as 'out of stock', you can sign up to be notified as soon as the item is back in stock. No need to keep checking back, we'll let you know!

A 'Back in Stock' date should also be visible next to the item in the fabric menu. If this is not the case, check with our team for more information.

Do I need to order a sample print before placing an order?

We strongly recommend ordering a sample before placing any fabric order over 1 metre.

The same design/colour you see on a digital screen can print differently from fabric to fabric. Things such as composition and fabric base colour can change printed colour results so it's always best to
sample your design and make sure you are happy with it before placing a larger order.

Our standard sample size is 20x20cm or you can order a Fat Quarter at 65x48cm. Upload your design here.
We also recommend ordering a Sample Book to see and feel all of our fabrics before placing your order. Order a Sample Book here.

How do I place an order?

To place an order you will first need to create an account with us. Create an account here.

You can then place your order via our easy upload page and select your repeat type, fabric base, print scale and quantity. Upload your design here.

Can I print my own design?

Yes! We love seeing all of your designs come through our machines.

As long as you own the rights to or have permission to use the design, we'll print it. Upload your own design here.

Is my design upload kept secure and private?

Yes. All designs are kept secure and private on our servers unless you decide to make your designs public. Learn more about selling your designs with Fashion Formula here.

Do I need an account to place an order?

Yes, you do need to create an account to place an order with us. Your account will store all of your order history and makes it quick and easy to track orders and re-order any of your designs at the click of a

Book. All fabrics are printed so you can get an idea of how different

What does 'FR' mean?

FR stands for Flame Retardant.

Many of our FR fabrics are inherently Flame Retardant, meaning that
they have been made specifically to be this, instead of being normal
fabric sprayed with a FR solution. These are ideal for interior uses,
such as curtains and upholstery. Some of the FR fabrics are FR backed.

Do you have waterproof fabrics?

Yes! We currently stock several waterproof fabrics and we regularly add more fabrics to our range.

Currently, our waterproof fabrics are: Lotus Twill, Aqua Plain Tex, Tentex, Soft Shell Ulta and Waterproof Suede FR.

Do you print on silk?

Unfortunately we do not currently print on silk.

The nature of our printing processes do not react well with silk as
we require heat to cure the inks at a high temperature at the end of the
production run, and silk should not be put under a high heat.

We do offer some great high-quality polyester silks that make
excellent alternatives such as Faux-silky, Poly Georgette, and Poly
Chiffon. We recommend you order a Sample Book to receive swatches of our full fabric range.

How do I calculate the amount of wallpaper I need?

What you need?
A tape measure or laser measure

How to do it?
1. Measure the width of the wall from wall to wall.

If the wall is straight then this measurement should be fine.
If
the wall is curved or a funny shape, then it is best to take a
measurement at the bottom and the top and use the largest of the two

*Add 5-10 cm for allowance as walls can often measure smaller than they are.

2. Measure the height of the wall from the ceiling to the edge of the skirting board or the floor.

Measure this in 3 places - the left corner, the middle and the right
corner. Do not add in skirting unless you plan to remove it.

*Add 5- 10 cm allowance for trimming off

3. Calculate how many rolls you need to create the wall.

Our Wallpaper is supplied in two sizes :

Single Panel : 60 cm wide x 300 cm high

Double Panel : 120 cm wide x 300 cm high

You can always purchase the untrimmed paper option if your wall is higher than 3m long. This can be as long as you need.

An example of wall calculation :

Width = 250 cm + 10 cm allowance = 260 cm

Height = 275 cm + 10 cm allowance = 285 cm

Make sure the height fits, then take the width and divide it by the width of the panel you want to use

eg. 260 cm / 60 cm = 5  Single Panels or 260 cm / 120cm = 3 Double Panels

Do you sell fabric that is safe for children?

How sustainable are your products and processes?

We work daily to make our work more sustainable.

Our processes use 95% less energy than traditional textile printing. We use only 100% renewable energy sources.

We are proud to say we have an eco-conscious production virtually no water used. Find out more about our Commitment to Sustainable Innovation & Social Responsibility.

If I print on fabric and paper, will the colours be the same?

Not necessarily. All of our wallpaper and fabric bases have their own
individual starting colour, some are bright white, some are off-white
and some are more cream or yellow.

We would really recommend ordering samples to check the colours, and then you can colour match accordingly.

Do you have recycled fabrics?

Yes we do! We have a growing range of recycled fabrics.

You can find these in the eco book in the sample pack.

Alternatively let us know what you’d like to make and we can advise the best recycled fabric to use.

Where is the fabric produced?

Our fabric is printed right here in the factory in Park Royal in North-West London.

We source our fabric bases globally from a number of different
suppliers, if you want to know the origins of a particular fabric, let
us know!

Design Tips & Tools

What format should my design be in?

We accept designs in the following formats: TIFF, JPG, PNG, GIF. Files
must be less than 40MB. We recommend using 150 Dpi. Please set your file in RGB with sRGB profile.

How do I colour match my designs?

All fabrics have different starting colours, textures, finishes which means colours can differ from fabric to fabric.

If you require a specific colour, we advise matching the colour on
the specific fabric you need. Thankfully, we have some great tools to help you with this journey, such as our cheap and easy 20 x 20 cm sample prints and our colour atlas to get perfect matching.

Take a look at our We Match Your Colours blog to learn more about colour matching.

If you need further help, please get in contact with our art working
team at: studio@fashion-formula.com or call us on: 02036955442

Which file type should my design be?

We accept designs in the following formats: TIFF, JPG, PNG, GIF.

Files must be less than 40MB.

What scale is the best to print at?

We recommend uploading your designs at 150dpi.

Before submitting your designs, be sure to zoom in and view them at real size to check for errors and pixelation.

If your design is pixelated or showing errors on the screen, it will also be pixelated and incorrect on the finished material.

Why can I not make the design bigger?

Our website will set a maximum scale size depending on the quality of the design you have uploaded.

If you have chosen a design by one of our feautured designers, they
may have set the print to have a minimum and maximum scale. This could
be due to image quality or a personal preference/design decision.

If you require adjustments to a print from one of our designers we are happy to get in touch with them to discuss further.

Can I make the design as big as I want?

Our website will set a maximum scale size depending on the quality of the
design you have uploaded. We recommend uploading your designs at 150dpi.

Before submitting your designs, be sure to zoom in and view them at real size to check for errors and pixelation.

If your design is pixelated or showing errors on the screen, it will also be pixelated and incorrect on the finished material.

What sizes should I set wallpaper at?

Our wallpaper rolls are printed at 60cm and 120cm wide.

A 2cm overlap will be added by our team in the production stage. Please prepare your files at 60cm or 120cm wide.

For your design to repeat properly and work as wallpaper you will
need to make sure the design is a multiple of/divisible by 60cm. E.g. 1
motif at 60cm wide, 2 motifs that are each 30cm wide, 3 motifs that are
20cm wide or 6 motifs that are 10cm wide etc.)

eg. 260 cm / 60 cm = 5  Single Panels or 260 cm / 120cm = 3 Double Panels

Your wallpaper is not a standard roll. Can you change this on the website?

Our wallpaper rolls are printed as drops of three metres.

We can print longer than this, however it will be untrimmed, meaning that you will have to trim your rolls before cutting them to size. This is a great option for screen-printing!

Do you have a studio service if I need help?

and some are more cream or yellow.

We would really recommend ordering samples to check the colours, and then you can colour match accordingly.

I have printed the same design on 2 different fabrics. Why are the colours different?

Each fabric has a slightly different colour base to it, meaning that the
same design won’t always print the same colour on different fabrics.

There is also a slight difference between the inks used on Polyester
and Cotton fabrics. However on the majority of fabrics we can alter the
colours slightly so that they match.

Do you match to screen, pantones or other colour charts?

We do not match our fabrics or wallpapers to pantones, RAL codes or other colour references.

Whilst our colour software and matching is industry leading, it is
not possible to guarantee a match to all colours and shades across over
50 fabrics and papers. Should you have a particular colour you need
match to, you can either order a colour atlas from our site and drop the correct colours into your design or send us a sample to match to.

As every monitor is different, we do not guarantee colour matching to
monitors, and without an approved sample in the same fabric, the colour
matching of your prints is entirely at your own risk.

Should you require an exact or close colour match, we urge you to
order a sample print prior to main production to avoid any
disappointment.

How do I contact you?

There are several ways to contact us, but the most efficient and recommended one is to contact us through the form on our Contact us Page.

You can also email us at ‘orders@fashion-formula.com’. We respond as quickly as possible to your request, questions and any help you might need related to the site or order.

Can you send my order white label/without the invoice?

Absolutely! You are able to select ‘Drop shipping’ option at checkout, or alternatively just let one of our studio staff know via email: studio@fashion-formula.com and they will arrange this for you.

What are your shipping options and rates?

Fashion Formula ships to the UK, Europe and the Rest of the World. Shipping rates are calculated by your order quantity, the destination of the
shipment, the type of product you order and the method you choose to
